Boredom, jobs, vacation, etc.

Andrew and I just got back last night from our last summer trip.
The end of June we went to IL, just to leave from there to go to NC to be chaperons for Western Oaks youth group. We went to a camp called Fuge and it was super fun. It was awesome to hang out with Bryan and Kendahl, and the long lost Zach Zaubi, but it was also great to meet the kids and start relationships with them. I don't like that we had to leave the kids after getting to know them...it's sad to me, but I'm hoping we can keep talking to them on facebook and what not.

We were in Springfield after camp for just about 4 days...visited grandma, grandpa, Dalton, Jessie, Western Oaks, and dad. The morning we left Spfld to go to my dad's we had breakfast at grandma's house with Dalton. It was very interesting...grandpa was being very funny! It was quite entertaining. My grandma had found these new brain pills...to help memory and stuff like that. My g'pa said something along the lines of...well we're exempt from that! If you don't know, my gpa has dementia. The other 4 of us were kind of silent for a second and just looked at each other, then just cracked up! It was hilarious. Visiting my dad is always fun. We played rummy and Andrew actually beat my dad and me by a lot, which was strange.

We then went to Greenville to visit Annie, which was fantastic! I don't get to see her when I'm home very often since she's in Greenville now. We walked around the little town, and ate at Powhattan in Pocohantas, IL. It was quite the experience. Of course Annie and I stayed up talking and giggling half the night. But it was OK b/c Andrew drove for the first 5 hours the next morning :)

We got back to CO July 8 just to leave again on the 10th for Vegas. Curtis and Katie gave us a gift certificate for a Weekend to Remember Conference and it was going to expire, so we just went for it. We stayed in a Marriott, off the strip, where the conference took place. We got a really great group discount and realized when we got there that our room is usually $400 a night!! It was awesome...whirl pool thing in the bathroom, walk in closet, huge bed, etc. It's the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in.

The conference itself was good. Because Andrew and I have only been married over a year, some of the things weren't very applicable to us...like children/mother/father stuff. And we just haven't run into some of the problems that marriages go through after years of being married. But, it was still very helpful. It was very encouraging to us, and we both took a couple very true applicable things away from it. We would both like to go again sometime, abut probably not till our 5th year of marriage or so.

Now we're back in Colorado and I'm just sitting here. Before leaving for IL I got in one application, before leaving for Vegas I applied at I think 3 more places. Just this morning I sent out about 5 applications. The only thing I've heard from any of them so far is that their reviewing process takes 4 weeks. So, if I do hear anything from that place, it won't be for another 3 weeks. I'm looking for pretty much anything in the mental health field. My ideal is working the 3-11 shift at a residential facility for youth. But I've given in and applied for the overnight shift, as well as even secretarial work at a mental health organization. Hopefully I hear something soon from someone!

Illinois

Andrew and I drove to Springfield on Friday...all day trip! It took us longer than I thought it would...maybe I forgot to add in gas/pee/food stops. Anyway, we're here, and we're sitting at Kendahl and Bryan's house right now. I loved getting closer and seeing the bright green trees and grass! They're so much better here than in Denver. When I left Kendahl's this morning I could smell the corn...I love it! We leave for Centrifuge summer church camp tomorrow at 3:30am. Supposedly Kendahl and Bryan are just going to stay up through the night. If they actually do, I'll try. Andrew says he's going to sleep. We'll see what happens! Over and out for the week...

Can't Sleep

I haven't actually tried to sleep yet, but I'm so not sleepy I'm actually antsy. Maybe if I start exercising regularly it'll get out my energy. It is only 11:24pm, so at least it's not really late.

My mom is in town right now, which has been really fun. I wish my dad was here though since it's Father's Day. My mom and I spent about two days straight shopping! Living in Effffffingham (as Matthew always writes) it, does not allow for any shopping opportunity outside of Wal Mart for my mom. So we went to Target, Bath & Body Works, TJ Maxx, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Mardels, Michaels, and probably other places; I just don't remember! It was fun though because we shopped all the bargains. Bath & Body Works was having their huge clearance sale, plus my mom had a coupon for $10 off of a $30 purchase. Between the two of us I think we got 8 items for $28! We spent about half an hour in the $1 aisle at Michael's! Hahaha! It was fun because we were just laughing at the things and found some really fun/funny stuff. Oh, and even better, the $1 aisle was on a 30% off sale!

If you've noticed, I added a summer reading list to my blog. I've always wanted to keep track of what I read and even note whether I like it or not/what I do and don't like about it. I'm finally able to read some fiction books I've been wanting to read now that I'm done with school - yay! I have so many on my list to read, but if you have any suggestions, you should let me know them - tell me a little about the book too though or else I probably won't read it.

Andrew got a hand down food dehydrator from his mom awhile ago, and finally started using it...to make beef jerky. We each made our own 'marinade' and my batch is actually 'cooking' right now. We'll have it for our drive to IL on the 26th.

We went over our budget the past couple days, and we're about $400 short every month! Oh the joys of money. We've got enough money saved up at this point that we'll be fine for quite awhile, but I definitely don't like the idea of living off of saved money. Hopefully I will get a job, besides photography, soon to make up the difference, and plus some. We have some friends, a newly married couple, and neither of them have jobs despite applying to, probably between the two of them, at least 100 jobs. So if you want, please pray for them!

I'm not the only antsy one in the family tonight...Spike is going crazy! She's climbing up on her rock and everything. It's always exciting to see how long her neck really is. Speaking of pets, Andrew gave me the official OK that I'm allowed to get a kitty :) I'm still allergic, but I want one so bad! I think I'll try to hold off for awhile longer. I'd like to get retested to see if I'm still as allergic, and then talk to the doc about whether my allergies might get worse if I get a cat right now...I don't know how all that stuff works. For those of you who know me, I've had pets around me my whole life, and I'm finally starting to feel pet deprived. Yes, I have Spike, but she's a turtle. Which is great, but I think you know what I'm saying. And yes, there's Abby, but she's at my mom's house. If I could bring her out here, I totally would! We tried to find a place with a yard this last time we moved, but everywhere around here with a yard is out of our price range.

Supposedly Jacob and Beth are moving out here at the end of the month. If they actually do it, I'll be pretty happy! Instant friends. :) Haha.

I'm out of thoughts and words, which is good; I'm actually starting to feel tired.

Hasta la vista

Vacation Day 2

Andrew and I are officially on day two of our 1 year anniversary vacation.  We stayed in a motel 6 in st. george utah last night and no one should stay here!  It's not like it's gross and awful or something, but the cable doesn't work well at all, and the internet costs $3 to use, and  you can only use it on one computer.  Plus they have no free breakfast.

Yesterday by the time we actually got out of Denver it was about 11.  We were maybe going to camp last night, but we decided to go to Las Vegas today, so we stopped outside LA and stayed in this annoying motel.  We're going to M&M Land today in LA, and then on to San Diego!

I'm Done!

I am done with school until I so choose to torture myself again!!! Yay!!! ;)

I am very happy my family got to come out and visit and such, but I must say, I am also happy for everyone to be gone...Today is my first day of NOTHING...absolutely nothing!!...since last summer I think.

My dad arrived on the train Thursday morning, and my mom and Matthew Thursday night. My dad and I went to Red Rocks and hiked around on Friday; Andrew played a couple games of chess with him throughout the weekend; and we made a mini photo-studio.

On Tuesday I took my mom to get pedicures for her Mother's Day present. =) On Sunday we all went to eat at Lola's...I recommend it.

Saturday was actual graduation and Kim & Chris came down. It was good to see them. We had a cookout at our new place afterward which was fun.

What now...
I'm shooting a wedding this weekend; mid next week into the next week, Andrew and I are going on a 1 year anniversary trip to San Diego; then that weekend (29th), I'm shooting another wedding. My mom's going to be here mid-June for a work thing, so I'll get to hang out with her again at that point; then Andrew and I are going to be camp counselors with Western Oaks in North Carolina the last week of June. The weekend of July 10th Andrew and I will be going to a Weekend to Remember in Las Vegas...and that's all the summer plans as of now.

I want to find some more photo jobs over the summer...anyone in the CO area want some pics?! Let me know!

I'll be applying all over to teenage residential facilities in this area. I don't think I'll start today...I need today to do no thinking...I'll start tomorrow.

Look on my facebook for pics from the weekend: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2017517&id=171701052&l=0b8d195f06

General Update

Hello friends and family!

I am two and 1/2 weeks away from graduating! Yay! The next two weeks are full of ministry hours, internship hours, papers, projects, and choir concerts. This Friday through Sunday I'm working 22 hours with Stand Up For Kids...Eek!...Gotta get my internship hours done though. We're doing a thing called 48 hours this weekend, where the kids can actually come stay at a place we found to sponsor us.

Go here to learn a little more about SU4K (stand up for kids).

Unfortunately Denver does not have an outreach center, like in this video, mostly because the Denver program is so new. Rick, the guy in the video, and also the founder, was at our meeting tonight, so that was cool getting able to finally meet him. Please pray for the kids especially with 48 hours this weekend - it is a chance for us to make a lot of connections with the kids and to really help them!

I was in Springfield this past weekend for Tara Hamlin's wedding, but was so busy with wedding stuff I didn't get to see many people. I did see my mom for a day, and my dad an afternoon. He came into Springfield and we took pictures at Washington park. It was nice to see them both. I stayed with my grandparents and it was good to see them too.

The rest of my life right now really is just full of school...pray for me! I am getting sick and have been pretty consistently tired lately. =( It will all be over soon enough, and I am so excited!

I wish I could say I have a job lined up after graduation, but I don't. I am shooting a wedding May 16th, and possibly one on the 29th. But both of them are friends, so they get discounts! I bought a new camera and lens recently and really want to use them to earn a little cash! A real job I am looking to get after graduating is in a residential facility for teenagers with mental and behavioral problems. I have found some options, just haven't applied yet...I know, I should get on that...I will.

Andrew and I moved into a new place at the end of March and we love it. We're still not totally unpacked and settled, but we are for the most part. I am excited to have time after graduation to 'nest.' =)

Andrew is doing well. He has a full ride next year for college...yay! It's through a private scholarship that was pretty much made for him...someone who plays guitar, and has taken sound recording classes and wants to go into some type of sound recording job.

Spike the pet turtle is doing well. She was scurrying around earlier but has settled down. I added more water to her tank yesterday which always makes her scurry around! I really want a kitten - our screen porch door even has a cat door in it! - but I'm still too allergic =(

That's all for now - I just wanted to give everyone a little update before I move on to life after college! =)

Pictures I can finally post because I found my camera cord!

The blizzard that gave me 2 extra days of 'spring' break...

Welcome to my new house!

The wonderful kitchen

Andrew brought his xbox stuff over before we even moved in so he could play on the big screen TV our land lady left for us to use.

Skylight in the living room

It's been way too long since I've had my own washer & dryer!

The balcony; the little door goes into a storage area...

That's all for now. I have some pictures of us moving in, with boxes all over, but nobody wants to see that. We're still not unpacked :( so I don't have 'moved in' pictures yet.
